Finding a Publisher can be difficult… But don’t fall for AI!
While speaking with a client a few weeks ago, they expressed that another Publisher had been reaching out to them about their work. So, immediately after the call, I began researching my ‘competition.’
What I found was an AI powered website, with a chatbot trying to get my business. No phone, no real people, but what has become all too common in the world of Independent Publishers. I asked a few questions, made a few jokes, and left knowing that this was nothing.
Many are false, and many are just going to use the same system that a self-published author uses, but charge you for it without any design, production, or industry knowledge. Hell, some even present themselves AS other websites in an attempt to take your money!!

So many weird ways to sow chaos in the modern literary world.
I myself still receive a multitude of emails from ‘iffy’ companies. Often it will say something akin to: “Hello Author, we saw your book and were impressed….” The catch is that I’m not an author. I’m a publisher. And they have no idea about that because they are fake.
AI bots scrape data from around the web, pulling names, titles, projects, and anything they can, then generate an email to excite you that YOUR TITLE would be a great Hollywood film, blah blah, blah.
I often send an email to someone wanting to represent my books, or become and agent, or whatever they are claiming, asking them: how they heard about the book, and to which title are they referring? When an answer doesn’t come, (or when I ask for a call and they say they can only email) I know that they are a false operation, only exacerbated by AI.
Don’t fall for this kind of stuff. Don’t feed the ‘Stupid Machine.’
